Das passiert auch WM- Teilnehmern:
American diver Chelsea Davis is expected to be released from hospital later on Friday and could return to the world championships despite being involved in an accident during the three-metre springboard event.
After slamming face first into the board attempting a 2 1/2 somersault in the preliminary round, the 17-year-old tumbled into the pool with blood streaming from her nose as U.S. coaching staff jumped to her aid.

Davis was taken to an on-site medical centre where she was examined before being immediately transferred to a Montreal hospital.

Tests showed no major injuries.

"She's moving all her extremities," said U.S. diving team leader Robert Rudze.

"We stabilised her for precaution. She never lost consciousness. She will probably need stitches on the bridge of her nose.

"Her parents and boyfriend are with her and if everything is negative she will have dinner with us tonight."

Despite the dramatic incident that shocked spectators and left several near tears, Davis may compete in the three-metre synchronised event on Sunday.

She was scheduled to partner Laura Ann Wilkinson, gold medallist in the 10-metre platform.

The U.S. coaching staff have until Saturday morning to make a decision.

Davis's best results have come in the synchronised competition, placing fourth in the three-metre event at the FINA diving grand prix.

Wie ich das gesehen habe, hat meine Nase auch sofort Alarm geschlagen. Mein Riechkolben hatte immerhin letztes Jahr ne vollkommene Zertrümmerung (dank Panzer). Das tut weh.... aber nur die ersten 24 h. Dann gehts eigentlich. Nasenbruch ist nur halb so schlimm. Nur dauert es ca. 6 Monate um zu wissen ob sie gerade bleibt oder nicht.

Trotz allem kann ich es ihr nachfühlen. Aber besser die Nase als ein Schädelbasisbruch. Und daran ist sie knapp vorbei gewesen.

Die Frage die sich mir bei der Schwimm-WM stellt: Warum tragen die das in einem Freibad aus, wo es doch in Montreal generell sehr windig ist. :???:

Die haben doch auch noch die schöne Olympia-Schwimmhalle :roll:

aber Phelps ist 18er und hat sich somit für die semis für 400m Fr nicht qualifizieren koennen. Dafür hat Schoeman die zweit beste zeit bei 50m Fly und startet heute abend bei den semis in bahn 4 *stolz auf ihn sein*. Deutschland hat die drittschnellste zeit bei den 4*100m Fr.
